We invite you to enjoy a night-walk in Sigulda!

The winter evenings are here - when the days are shorter, the nights are longer. It must be said that this time is also miraculous, in the dark everything begins to look more bright and completely different. The usual sights are surrounded by shadows and are fighting with the darkness, at the same time shining bright in the lights. Have you walked through Sigulda in the evening? The city has a majestic and romantic charm! Take a walk already today!

Sigulda Railway Station Square and Sigulda County Tourism Information Center

Sigulda has been recognized as the most loved city in Latvia for the third year in a row, according to the latest data of the top brands “Baltic Brands”. The Railway Station Square and Laima Clock prove the authenticity of this status of the most loved city. This is a truly wonderful place to meet! In 2010, the legendary Latvian chocolate factory "Laima", celebrating its 140th anniversary, in cooperation with the people of Latvia, searched for the city that would best fit for the title of the most loved city. In the live television broadcast, the people of Latvia voted for Sigulda with their vote. That is how Sigulda won the title of the City of Love and also a unique opportunity to create a meeting place, in the center of which is the "Laimas" clock donated by the company.

Bicycle street and Pils street

The first bicycle street in Latvia has been opened on Pils street, which operates as a pilot project in the Sigulda general traffic improvement concept. The implementation of this pilot project is one of the steps to create safer traffic in the center of Sigulda in order to reduce the number of traffic accidents and improve safety for all road users. Pils street is also a street that glows glamorously almost throughout the whole street in the dark evenings and during the winter.

Culture centre “Siguldas devons”

The culture centre "Siguldas devons" was opened on September 14, 2018, after an extensive reconstruction. The building is named in honor of the period that temporarily recorded a magic code in the sandstone layers of the Gauja valley from the time when the Sigulda area was covered by water. The culture centre not only delights with an extensive cultural program but also with the design sandy facade of the building, which shines brightly in the dark.

Sigulda Castle Quarter

In the historical center of Sigulda, in the former forecourt of the Livonian Order castle, a unique creative quarter has been formed, which has brought together outstanding craftsmen who not only work here but also teach their craft in masterclasses to the city guests. Here you can enjoy a breath of culture and history, as well as eat delicious food! After a visit to the Silver Museum or a master class in one of the workshops, it is possible to walk around the sights and territory, which re-enlightens the Sigulda Castle Quarter.

Castle of Livonian order

Sigulda Castle of the Livonian Order, built-in 1207, was built as a “castellum” type fortress, but later rebuilt into a convent type building. With the development of firearms, medieval fortresses gradually lost their original significance. At the beginning of the 18th century, during the Northern War, the castle was destroyed and was no longer restored. Everyone has the opportunity to climb the South and North towers, walk along the stone walls, enjoy the aura of antiquity, and the landscapes that open from the tower to the Gauja ancient valley and other historical centers.

Walking-stick park

The walking-stick park opened in 2007, is dedicated to Sigulda's most popular souvenir - the walking stick. Evidence of walking sticks can be found in guides published as early as the 19th century, which states that "a walking stick, which can be purchased from a boy, will be useful for walking along the ravines of Sigulda". There are also light elements in the park, which makes this place especially romantic.

Cable car over Gauja River

The Sigulda cable car offers a ride over the Gauja ancient valley, the view opens up a charming landscape several kilometers into a distance. However, if you want to leave the trip for another time, then we recommend looking at the miraculous landscape, which opens from the viewing platform of the cable at departure point or during the night hours when the lights delight us with an illuminated facade.

Sigulda festivity square and the “golden” S! symbol

From the viewing platform of the Festivity Square, a classic landscape opens up to the Gauja ancient valley and Krimulda manor. However, if you arrive in the evening, only the people- favorite S! symbol will be visible and located on the local so-called "edge of the world."

Concert hall Baltais flīģelis (White Grand Piano)

This original building, reminiscent of a musical instrument - a white grand piano with windows in the form of keys on the facade of the building - was opened in May 2001. The choice of the shape of the building is not accidental, because it is the music that has shaped the history of this place.

Green Villa quarter and cafe “Kafijas garāža”

The name of the Green Villa quarter is named after the oldest wooden building in Sigulda, which is a cultural and historical monument and was built by the Kropotkin family. The Green Villa quarter consists of three buildings: the Green Villa, a communication building, and garages with an area of 2000 square meters.

Bobsleigh and luge track “Sigulda”

This artificial ice track was the first bobsleigh track in the Baltics. The Bobsleigh and luge track is one of the 18 such buildings in the world. Compared to other trails, this one is unique in that it is available for year-round viewing, as well as for trips to tourist attractions. Every year international competitions take place on the track.

Gastro market “Jāņa tirgus”

Gastro market in the center of Sigulda. "Jāņa Tirgus" will surprise you with a wide offer of food and catering services. It is also decorated with various light elements.

Plan a night walk in Sigulda and experience new emotions in dark cold winter weather!

We remind you to use reflectors in the dark!
